Frederick J. Tansill & Associates, the predecessor firm to Tansill & Associates, opened in late 1997. Prior to starting the firm, Fred Tansill was a partner at McGuire Woods and more recently Verner Liipfert (now DLA Piper). When Fred launched his own practice in 1997, Cynthia Brown also left Verner to join Fred’s practice. Brooke Tansill, Fred’s daughter, joined in 2008. The firm changed its name to Tansill & Associates in 2025. Our core area of practice and expertise is estate planning and estate and trust administration. We represent a broad array of clients, advising clients with more simple and modest estates and advising high-net worth clients on estate, generation-skipping, and gift tax planning, including sophisticated tax-oriented strategies, charitable planning, and asset protection strategies. Our firm is in a unique position in the marketplace because we have the sophistication and expertise of a big firm, but we operate in a small firm environment. We answer our own phone calls and emails and respond in real time.
